NorSCIR is based on the international SCI Data Sets developed by The International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS). The registration is electronic and runs on the Medical Registry System (MRS) developed by the Central Norway Regional Health Authority IT department (Hemit IT). Data are transferred via the Norwegian Health Network (NHN).
The purpose of NorSCIR is to improve quality of care, to establish and monitor clinical guidelines and to serve as a resource for research by providing comprehensive data on SCI care. Members from all hospitals are represented in the Norwegian SCI registry steering committee, and the committee also includes a member from the National Spinal Cord Injuries Association to ensure the users' perspectives.
Criteria for data access
The data sources have different purposes and are regulated by different laws and regulations. In order to access information from the data sources, what you plan to use the information for must be in accordance with the purpose of the data source.
The types of approvals and documents you must submit to access information depend on what you are applying for, what you are going to use the information for and how you are going to process it. We therefore recommend that you take the time to familiarize yourself with the application guides before starting the application process:
Application guide for anonymous, aggregated data (statistical data)
Application guide for personally identifiable data
Apply for access to data
Contact the data holder for more information on how to access data from the registry.
You can also find more information about the registry, the associated variables and how to get access to data on stolav.no (in Norwegian).
