Cohort of Norway (CONOR)

CONOR is a collection of health data and blood samples from several Norwegian health surveys. When the data collection is complete, CONOR will be a unique database with health data and biological samples of about 200 000 individuals. The purpose of CONOR is investigating the causes of disease.

Contents of the register

The information included in the CONOR database is obtained through standardization and adaptation of several questionnaire information and measurements (in person) from several Norwegian health surveys.

It includes information on, among other things, the occurrence of certain diseases, general questions about health, use of blood pressure medication, physical activity, education, smoking and alcohol habits and occurrence of heart disease in the family. It also includes questions about place of birth, living conditions, family, work situation and social security benefits.

When the invitees showed up in person, blood pressure, height and weight, as well as waist and hip circumference were measured. A blood sample was taken which has been analyzed for fats and blood sugar, and an additional blood sample which has been frozen to -80 degrees Celsius.

Variables

An overview of variables can be found in this variable explorer: CONOR variables

In the explorer, the variables can be added to a variable list and you can export a list of desired variables that is attached to the application.

Alternatively, you can use this order form, which is attached to the application: Order form CONOR_v9 (Excel file)

Purpose

The data sources have different purposes and are regulated by different laws and regulations. Access to information from the health survey requires that the conditions for processing personal data in the Regulations on population-based health surveys (lovdata.no) are met.

The types of approvals and documents you must submit to gain access to information also depend on what you are applying for, what you will use the information for and how you will process it.

To gain access to information from health examinations, you must apply for access to personally identifiable data. We therefore recommend that you spend plenty of time familiarizing yourself with the application guide for personally identifiable data before starting the application process.
